I regularly walk my dog at the Columbia Slough in Northeast Portland. A stripped car has been 'parked' near a footbridge on the trail that curves along with the slough.
The skeletal car has been there for months.
I e-mailed Portland Water Bureau (PWB) several weeks ago to report the car abandoned near its 16650 N.E. Airport Way Groundwater Pump Station's settling pond. I figured it was either their problem to solve or that of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) .
The abandoned and stripped car is at the very least an eyesore and obstruction and attractive nuisance and environmental threat of groundwater contamination.
PWB replied immediately that it was Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) I should call and included a phone number.
I called PBOT's "car removal" number and left a message identifying myself and giving the long-abandoned car's identity and location relative to Northeast 158th Avenue.
That was five weeks ago tomorrow that I reported the months-old problem to the 'responsible' Portland agency.
Herebelow is my ruined view today. It shows Portland Slough in the background, the stripped car and trash in the middle ground, and fire-charred trees and earth in the foreground.
Thanks for nothing, PBOT!
